In the hymn “Speak O Lord” we sing “And by grace we’ll stand on your promises and by faith we’ll walk as you walk with us.” It is a statement of confident hope that we can stand and walk with God as we are asking Him to speak. In Psalm 86, David is asking the Lord to speak and he is standing and walking with God in hope. The reason for his confidence is the same as ours today. We have hope because of God’s faithfulness and our faithfulness to Him.
