Persevering Through Him
It’s one of those times when I have writer’s block. I cannot think of anything to write. It’s always frustrating. It makes me wonder why even try or continue to write. Life is like that, too. Some days everything comes easy, and others it seems like we’re treading through mud. But we keep going. There is never a time to stop.
During these times, it may be that we haven’t had time to process life. We serve out of the overflow. I like this scripture; “God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our tribulations, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God” (2 Cor. 1:3-5, NKJV). Do you see how the comfort flows through us to others? When gratitude flows out of our heart, abundance will flow into our life.
So when I think of all God has blessed me with, I see how abundant His blessings are. When I think of His grace, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. He didn’t have to offer His son for me, but yet He did. Jesus was unselfish and sacrificial for all, but also for me personally. That is overwhelming! Paul said it this way, “I am crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh l live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Gal. 2:20). Do you see how personal God’s grace is to Paul?
Again, when I think of the comfort He offers, I think of His longsuffering. He doesn’t want anyone to be lost. He gives man time to repent and waits for judgment to be pronounced. (2 Pet. 3:9). If He is longsuffering with me, can’t I be longsuffering with others too? The comfort flows through me to others.
Then I think of the hope He offers. Paul talks about those banished from the presence of God (2 Thess. 1:6-9). They are banished because of sin. If you turn it around, we have been delivered from eternal separation. We have the hope of escaping eternal loss and suffering. All spiritual blessings have been provided in Christ. When we live by his terms, His great love is offered to me.
Through Him and His blessings, I feel fulfilled.
