Find The Blessing
Find the blessing! I wish that I had come up with this. I must give Jody credit for it. Think about it: can’t we find the blessing in everything we face? Even in those harsh circumstances that often lay us out flat, is there not a blessing that can be found? It is easy enough to find the blessing in things that are going our way, but what about when the reverse is true? That becomes our challenge.
Find the blessing! If you’ve lost a loved one recently or even if it has been some time since you lost a loved one, find the blessing. Isn’t the blessing found in the time you had with them? Isn’t the blessing in the memories? Strangely, isn’t there a blessing in the pain that comes with loss? The blessing is we can become more aware of our relationship with our God. We can appreciate those we still have even more. We can bow and thank God for His grace. Find the blessing. Meditate on it.
Further, find the blessing in our church family. We have all been challenged these past several months. Opinions about masks, vaccinations, social distancing, and COVID-19 have not been easy, but find the blessing. It has made us take a deep look at ourselves. It has made us appreciate the ability to gather and collectively worship God. It has helped us see the value of being brethren. It has stretched us and made us think about how we treat each other. Find the blessing. Meditate on it.
Again, find the blessing! Maybe you had a loved one in a serious automobile accident but he or she walked away physically unscathed. There is still the mental and emotional component that needs to heal, but find the blessing. No one suffered loss of life. Safety features on the car worked. The seat belts and airbags prevented anything catastrophic from happening. Find the blessing. Meditate on it.
Finally, just think in your life how many times God did provide the blessing. Jehovah-Jireh, “God will provide.” The examples are infinite for us. But wherever and whatever, find the blessing. It will help each one of us keep a better perspective as we live life under the sun. It will keep us focused on life with the Son. Find the blessing. Mediate on it.
