The New Year

Every new year brings bright hope and a sense of renewal. It is a chance to reset. So here are a few things that we can reset. See what you can think of.

  1. Renewed devotion to the Lord, our families, and our brethren.
  2. Less time criticizing and more time expressing gratitude.
  3. Regardless of what happens, try to find the blessing in it.
  4. Find time to reflect and contemplate our place before God.
  5. Find someone to praise and encourage.
  6. Be observant. Notice how people carry themselves.
  7. Read the Bible. Read good books. Expand our mental abilities.
  8. Think. Laugh. Sing.
  9. Watch out for these insidious three: cynicism, discouragement, and bitterness.
  10. Find time to love and serve someone.
  11. Hold your children a little tighter. Tell them you love them a little more often.
  12. Embrace a newborn. Cherish those newborns, both physically and spiritually.
  13. Everyone needs acceptance, affection, affirmation, appreciation, approval, and attention.
  14. Everyone needs comfort, encouragement, respect, security, and support.
  15. Listen.
  16. Avoid selfishness, prideful self-reliance, and self-condemnation.
  17. Pray often. Little prayers are powerful.
