The New Year
Every new year brings bright hope and a sense of renewal. It is a chance to reset. So here are a few things that we can reset. See what you can think of.
- Renewed devotion to the Lord, our families, and our brethren.
- Less time criticizing and more time expressing gratitude.
- Regardless of what happens, try to find the blessing in it.
- Find time to reflect and contemplate our place before God.
- Find someone to praise and encourage.
- Be observant. Notice how people carry themselves.
- Read the Bible. Read good books. Expand our mental abilities.
- Think. Laugh. Sing.
- Watch out for these insidious three: cynicism, discouragement, and bitterness.
- Find time to love and serve someone.
- Hold your children a little tighter. Tell them you love them a little more often.
- Embrace a newborn. Cherish those newborns, both physically and spiritually.
- Everyone needs acceptance, affection, affirmation, appreciation, approval, and attention.
- Everyone needs comfort, encouragement, respect, security, and support.
- Listen.
- Avoid selfishness, prideful self-reliance, and self-condemnation.
- Pray often. Little prayers are powerful.
