What Does Your Bible Say About Baptism?
There have been many different traditions espoused by various churches regarding baptism. Here’s a few from a long time ago.
Wouldn’t it be more agreeable to find out what your Bible says about baptism?
“Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore, we were buried with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” (Rom 6:3-4; see Col 2:12 and Gal 3:26-27) According to the Bible, baptism mirrors the death, burial and resurrection experience of our Lord, and accomplishes this in us:
“Baptism…now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” (1Peter 3:21). According to the Bible, baptism has to do with salvation; and the power of baptism to save is not in the act itself, nor in the water. Baptism saves because God (the One doing the saving) said so. Baptism saves because it is there God applies His resurrection power.
“He who believes and is baptized shall be saved.” (Mark 16:16) Men can try and parse this simple sentence into a denial of the necessity of baptism for salvation, but the options are clear:
